Recent graduates are facing significant challenges in a very competitive job market, and the contacts and opportunities that the OV network provides is invaluable. We always impress on our leaving Upper Sixth the importance of staying in touch with the School, as the acumen and knowledge available from older OVs is a tremendous resource.
We frequently are contacted by OVs who are looking to fill a placement or who are hiring for new positions - recent examples include an HR executive role with a high-profile London company, and a graduate placement with Laurence Dallaglio's charity.
Together with other news and opportunities, we post details of these placements on our LinkedIn group (which can be found here). This group is an excellent gateway into the OV community, and it gives direct access to hundreds of OVs. All members of the KSW community are welcome to join.
We also help to put established OVs in contact with other professionals, and regularly hold networking events to provide opportunities for OVs to make new contacts. Keep checking our Events page for more information.
The OV network is open to all OVs regardless of age or experience, and provides careers support in a variety of ways, including:
· Individual advice on professions or sectors
· General advice on getting into a chosen profession
· Mentors for roles
· Opportunities for work experience placements and internships
If you are interested in offering support, these are the ways in which you can help:
- Speedy careers
- Careers talks
- Entrepreneur key skills workshop
- Careers Conferences in particular sectors
- Careers mentoring via email, phone or Skype
