Chemistry is a key science that is essential for those who want to go on to be vets, doctors, dentists and pharmacists for example. Chemistry is one of the three sciences studied up to GCSE, the others being Biology and Physics.
The course is practically based with challenging exercises that develop laboratory skills as pupils learn such topics as rates of reaction, structure and chemical processes. Pupils will also gain an understanding of industrial processes, such as those that produce ammonia, fertilisers and explosives. By the end of the course pupils will recognise the importance of chemistry in our everyday lives.
- Regular Chemistry lecture trips to Birmingham University
