We want our pupils to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes and to want to keep on learning.
In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which focuses on learning through play. Play is central to the children's activities and learning and is structured to provide them with the right balance of learning opportunities. As they become ready for more formal learning this is gradually introduced. In Years 0ne and two all children follow a more formal timetabled curriculum.
Throughout the academic year we ‘grow’ a learning tree. Children are encouraged to display specific personal qualities both towards their schoolwork and in their daily life at school; qualities such as perseverance, curiosity and creativity. They will be awarded a leaf to place on the tree if they continue to demonstrate these positive character traits. In this way we foster a growth mindset which will help the children throughout their education and indeed into their adult lives.
