The King's School Himalayan Club was formed in the early 1990s with the first expedition to the Nepal Himalayas taking place in 1993. Since then there has been an expedition each year for students, visiting diverse locations including Ladakh, Tibet, Tanzania, Peru, Eastern Turkey and Indonesia. The Himalayan Club has also worked collaboratively with the RNIB for the Share the Vision project helping visually impaired students experience the delights of Morocco and Nepal.
Well over five hundred pupils, Old Vigornians, parents and staff have now participated in these exciting and spectacular adventures. In return for the experiences the club has funded educational and medical projects in all of the countries visited through the Nepal Trust, providing more than £300,000 during its existence.
