Entrance to King's at 11+
There are up to fifty places for external candidates at 11+. All candidates take papers in English, mathematics and verbal reasoning and have a short interview.
Entrance to King's at 13+
Places available at 13+ vary from year to year depending on the size of our Year Eight group. We would advise parents to check the position in any one year. All candidates take papers in English, mathematics and verbal reasoning and have an interview.
Entrance to King's at Sixth Form
There is a specially designed test geared to the age group, which contains elements of English, mathematics and spatial relationships. On the basis of this test, interviews, predicted GCSE grades and reports from the candidates' present schools, offers are made which are conditional on a satisfactory performance at GCSE. To qualify for entry to the Sixth Form the minimum requirement for external candidates is six passes at least at B grade (or equivalent) and a further two passes at C grade (or equivalent) at GCSE, however we would expect most of our Sixth Form applicants to comfortably exceed this. English language and mathematics must be passed at C grade or higher. Ideally candidates should expect to achieve a Grade A or higher in any subject that is to be taken at A Level if these subjects have been taken at GCSE, but a B is accepted as a minimum.
Information for current pupils continuing on to the Sixth Form can be found on Firefly, the school's internal portal.
