Our ethos in sport is inclusive: whatever a child’s capabilities, we focus on developing individual skills, confidence, team play and enjoyment.

Our sports facilities at King’s are second to none. With our extensive playing fields, AstroTurf pitches, sports hall, and twenty-five metre indoor swimming pool there is a wealth of opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports, both in timetabled games lessons and in after school clubs.

The school ethos is to encourage commitment, hard work, and perseverance and as such all children will be given the opportunity to take part in inter-school fixtures from Year Three onwards.

For boys, competitive sports are rugby, football, and cricket whilst girls play competitively in hockey, netball, and rounders. Boys and girls are equally encouraged to try any of these sports in one of our after school clubs.

Swimming features strongly at King’s St Alban’s. All children in Reception to Year Two have weekly swimming lessons and from Year Three swimming is taught every other half term as part of PE. There are also two further opportunities to swim after school and for our stronger swimmers there is an early morning coaching session each Monday.

The Keyes Building

Our high-quality sports provision has been enhanced by the new indoor sports and performing arts centre at the senior school, The Keyes Building. This state of the art building provides further sports halls, a superb fitness suite, dance studio and climbing wall. This wonderful facility is available to the entire school and the local community.

The curriculum is advanced through specialist teaching in languages, music, dance, games and swimming.
