The early years of any child’s life are important. They lay the foundations which contribute to the person each child will become.

Our hard-working, dedicated team of staff recognise that learning happens more easily when children are enjoying themselves. Our team works hard to ensure that the foundations laid in the Pre-Preparatory Department are based upon happiness, confidence and an eagerness to learn.

A Bespoke Teaching Environment

Our Pre-Preparatory Department, situated adjacent to the Junior School, combines bright airy classrooms and a stunning multipurpose hall with a delightful outdoor garden and charming library. Each class caters for a maximum of sixteen children and has a Form Teacher and a Teaching Assistant, ensuring that each child is nurtured and encouraged to work to the best of their ability.

Specialist Staff and Teaching

Specialist staff from the Junior School teach French, Music, PE, Swimming and Games. The children are gradually introduced to the facilities on the Junior School site, making use of the swimming pool, IT suite, science laboratory and art studio.

Enclosed Outdoor Space

All children in our Pre-Preparatory Department enjoy the enclosed adventure playground as well as the newly installed traversing wall. Our teaching team work hard to make use of the varied and extensive outdoor space for play as well as learning. The children love the outdoor story telling area and really enjoy growing and harvesting their own vegetables in the garden, which they then use to create meals to share.

In the last ISI inspection, our Early Years provision was deemed to be outstanding in all areas.

Children here are enthusiastic, inquisitive learners who enjoy coming to school and who make rapid progress.
