Team Sports

Sport and activities have a strong tradition at King's Hawford and teams regularly represent the school at rugby, football, hockey, netball, cricket, rounders, swimming and cross country. Our teams enjoy considerable success at regional and national levels, and we field as many teams as possible to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to play for the school.

Recently, boys and girls have enjoyed rugby, football and netball tours. We have an annual sports tour of the North East/Stoke for Year 5 children, playing netball and football fixtures and visiting a Premier league football ground. In Year 6 the children undertake a further sporting tour of the York area, playing hockey, netball and rugby in York and Harrogate. In 2005, our Under 11 rugby team finished third in the National Finals, with the Under 10 team winning through to the Final of the Plate competition. In 2007 we were winners in an International Rugby Competition held in France. Also in 2007 we came 4th withour U11 netball team in the IAPS national championships. We have been County Hockey champions for three of the past four years since 2007 adn reached National Finals twice. We have also had athletes reach National Athletics Finals in both track and field in 2008.

All pupils are members of a House and there are regular competitions between the Houses in all of the major sports including dodgeball, swimming, katakanu and an Apache relay.
