Early Years

We believe that happiness is essential to effective learning and development, and that children should grow to love learning and school.

Play is central to our approach with Early Years children and our facilities allow for a wide range of physical and creative play. Our Kindergarten has a courtyard with ride-on toys and there is a large adventure playground for the children to explore. Inside there is sand and water, a two-floor playhouse, dressing-up area, construction and painting areas.

Reception at King's Hawford is full time. A little more formal learning is introduced when the child is ready but play still forms an important part of the day.

The Ofsted Report of June 2008 judged the Kindergarten and Reception provision at King's Hawford Outstanding in all areas. For a copy of this report click here.

Children can be supervised at school from 8.00am until 5.50pm, with the school day running from 8.30am until 3.30pm.
