The Hawford Family

We believe that schools serve a wider community. We want our children to feel that their school is a special place but that we look beyond to the wider Hawford family and to the community outside the school gates. With this in mind we invite our grandparents to join us for an annual Grandparents' Day, at which the children provide the entertainment for our special guests. The children are then given an opportunity to 'show off' the school to their grandparents.

In the same way we see our May Fete as an opportunity for the children to organise stalls and entertainment for parents, with maypole dancing on the day supplementing the occasion. It is a day when we see the wider Hawford family coming together.

Our biennial Old Hawfordians Day sees former pupils returning to spend time with us, wandering around old haunts and talking to fellow former pupils. Current pupils, along with current and former staff, have lunch together and have a chance to exchange stories and memories.

The Canal Walk was enjoyed by the children, parents and teachers.
