Thursday 30th June


PA Summer Ball
Saturday night was a fabulous evening with a super Summer Ball being enjoyed until the small hours. A huge amount of effort went into making the Ball a success and we are grateful to all who worked to ensure the evening went well. Many thanks also for your support of the evening.

PA Summer Ball Photographs
Photos taken at the Summer Ball by Angela Allard Photography will be will be available next week to order on her website www.angelaallardphotography.com. The password for the Summer Ball folder will be "Bollywood".

Class Lists
Class lists for next year were sent out on Tuesday. We will be organising a time during the next week for the children to spend a little time with their new teacher in order to assist the transition to new classes from September.

Canal Walk
To date we have raised a total £1508 in sponsorship following the recent school walk. We are very grateful to all who have brought in sponsor money. Please could any outstanding sums reach us by the end of term.

Year 2 Vikings Day
On Monday 4th July our Year 2 children will be enjoying a visit by a number of Vikings. Hopefully they will be able to get their longboat up the recently opened Droitwich Canal.

ABRSM Exams
We are pleased to have a visiting examiner at the school on Monday 4th July for this year's Associated Board Music Exams. As we have so many children now taking exams at the school we have become our own examining centre, which makes it so much easier for the children as exams will be taking place in familiar surroundings.

House Apache Relay
Our Prep aged children will be involved in a House Apache Relay on Monday 4th July.

PA Committee Meeting
The final PA Committee meeting of the school year will take place on Monday 4th July at 7-30p.m. This will be a chance to debrief on the Summer Ball and also to set out the plan for the events of the next year.

Teddy Bears Picnic
Our Kindergarten 1 children will be enjoying a Teddy Bears Picnic on Tuesday 5th July. Mrs Willis has sent out details of this event to parents.

Kindergarten Trip
Kindergarten 2 children will be visiting Hatton Farm on Tuesday 5th July.

Charity Disco
On Tuesday 5th July children from Reception to Year 6 will be attending a disco that has been offered by Mr Bethell to mark the end of the school year. This will take place during the afternoon and children may wear their own clothes to school on this day. We would be grateful if the children could bring in £1 for their chosen charities on the day.

House Treat
Our final House treat of the year will be on Wednesday 6th July, during the afternoon. The winner of this term's House Treat will be announced on the day itself.

Music Concert
The final event of the school year will take place in the Cobb on Wednesday 6th July. This will be the Summer Music Concert for our Year 3 to 6 children and will be a terrific way for the school year to draw to a close. There will be performances from all of the children on the evening.

World Transplant Games
Parents will be pleased to hear that a recent former pupil of the school, Andrew Evans Fisher, competed at the World Transplant Games for Team GB in Gothenburg recently.  Andrew did ever so well. In the Ball Throw he won a Bronze medal, while in the Long Jump he was awarded a Silver medal. In the 100m event Andrew won the Gold medal.

End of Term
On Thursday 7th July term finishes at 4-00p.m. There will be no Prep or after school care on this evening. The PA has very kindly agreed to supply a Bouncy Castle for the children to enjoy at the end of school. Refreshments will also be provided.

Speech Day
Years 1 to 6 children will be attending our annual Speech Day in the marquee on Saturday 2nd July at 2-30p.m. There will be a significant performance element to the day, in addition to the usual presentation of prizes. Champagne and strawberries will be served at the end of the presentations.

Thursday 23rd June

PA Summer Ball
We are expecting over 220 parents, staff and friends at the Summer Ball this weekend. The Bollywood theme promises to be a good one, with Indian dancers on the evening. It is even rumoured that the Head has a special outfit for this event. A significant amount of work has gone into this year's Ball and we are grateful to Emma Davies and her team of PA helpers for their commitment to the event. We are also grateful to all who have donated raffle or auction items. The evening is bound to be a memorable one and we hope that all who attend will have a terrific evening.

Science Week
Details of our Science Week, which begins on Monday, have already been circulated to parents. The week promises to be one that the children will greatly enjoy, with drumming workshops, a Lego experience, a visit by Zelwyn von Zeller and will culminate in a Science Roadshow on Thursday afternoon. Parents are warmly invited to join us for the visit of Professor John Kilcoyne that afternoon. John has appeared on Brianiac for a number of years and his show features plenty of whizzes and bangs!

Art Notices
Following the Year 3 visit to Compton Verney, a number of pieces of artwork produced while visiting the gallery were selected for an exhibition of children's work.  Congratulations to: Gabby Gutt, Tom Bulpitt, Robert Newman, Maddie Queen, Matilda Amess, Joshua Lawson and Jonny Sproule. During Science Week, there will be an exhibition of children's work to raise money for Worcester Primary School in South Africa.  Reception to Year 2 children have produced some super work.  This will be mounted and framed for you to view in the wing of the marquee from Monday 27th June, with the opening of the exhibition at 3-00p.m.  The work will be available for sale on Thursday 30th June from 3-00p.m. and Friday 1st July at 3-00p.m.  Each piece will cost £8.

Dance Presentations
Parents whose children attend ballet are invited to join us for the end of year dance presentations on Monday 27th June (for Year 1, Kindergarten and Year 4) and Wednesday 29th June (for Reception, Years 2 and 3). Presentations begin at 12-30p.m., 1-00p.m. and 1-30p.m. in the above order each day. Children will need to remember to bring in their ballet and character shoes on the day.

Poetry Recital Final
The final of this year's Poetry Recital Competition will take place on Monday 27th June at 2-15p.m. Parents are welcome to attend this event.

Grandparents' Day
We are looking forward to the visit of our children's grandparents on Tuesday 28th June. This promises to be a wonderful day, with a selection of musical highlights from this year's productions and concerts, tours of the school, hands-on science activities and puppet theatre performances. A separate letter has detailed arrangements for the day.

Year 6 King's Induction
Year 6 children who are moving on to King's in September will be attending an induction evening at King's on Tuesday 28th June at 6-15p.m.

Year 5 Parents' Lunch at King's
Year 5 parents are invited to join us for a special event at King's on Wednesday 29th June from 12 noon to 2-30p.m. Lunch is available at 1-00p.m. There will be tours of the school and an opportunity to meet some of the senior staff in a social setting. Please return your reply slip to the school office by tomorrow.

Parents' Evening
Reception to Year 6 parents are invited to attend the final parents' evening of the year next week. This will be on Wednesday 29th June from 4-15p.m.

SPACE Event
Parents will have received an invitation to a special event at the home of John and Diana Crabtree on
Thursday 30th June at 7-00p.m. This will be a social occasion at which Hawford parents will be able to learn more about the proposed sports and performing arts centre, which we hope to construct on the former Salmon's Leap site.

Swimming Successes
Congratulations to Lucy Wadley and Freya Sinclair, who have recently been awarded their Level 1 and 2 National Swim Awards.

Ballet Award
Well done to Isabella Woodcock, who recently passed her Grade 2 Ballet exam with Distinction.

Sports Results
In roudners matches this week, U8 v Moor Park won 11.5-8, U8 v Winterfold lost 13-6.5, U9 v RGS Springfield won 16.5-6 and the U10 v Abberley won 12.5-9. In cricket matches, the U8 v Winterfold lost by 10 runs, U9A v Winterfold won by 22 runs and the U9 B won by 14 runs.

Thursday 16th June

French Day
We are greatly looking forward to French Day on Thursday 23rd June. This will be an opportunity for us to celebrate our close association with our nearest neighbours across the Channel. There will be a series of events and activities taking place during the day, with all of the children involved. In order to assist in creating the appropriate mood we are asking for the children to dress up in either a costume of red, white and blue or something Gallic in nature. It is sure to be an enjoyable day.

 

 

6LB Carsington Trip
Our children in 6LB will be travelling up to Carsington on Monday 20th June for their school camp, staying in the Peak District until their return on Wednesday 22nd June.

Reception Trip
On Wednesday 22nd June our reception children will be travelling to the Heritage Motor Centre for a day trip.

Kindergarten Induction Morning
We will be welcoming the children, and their parents, who are due to start in Kindergarten early next term in for an induction morning on Friday 17th and Wednesday 22nd June.

Second Hand Uniform Sale
There will be a second hand uniform sale on Wednesday 22nd June at 3-00p.m. items for the sale may be brought into the office from Monday 20th June.

Sports Day
We are greatly looking forward to the Prep Sports Day on Friday 24th June. This is an all-day event, with the field events taking place in the morning and the track events in the afternoon. Parents are welcome to bring in a picnic to enjoy during the interval between the two elements of the day. The programme will be distributed on Monday 20th and Mrs Goodayle has asked for all parents to check the programme with their children and to let her know if there are any amendments to be made by Wednesday 23rd at the very latest.

ABRSM Music Exams
These will take place all day on Monday 4th July. The schedule will follow shortly.

PA Summer Ball
After a great deal of work in the planning stage, things are now in place for the PA Summer ball on Saturday 25th June. This is a 7-00p.m. for 7-30p.m. event, with a Bollywood theme this year. We are delighted to have some Indian dancers joining us for the evening and this promises to be a Ball to remember. Tickets have sold well and we thank you all for your support of the evening.

Charity Dinner
The flyer and application form for the Charity Dinner in October, in aid of St. Richard's Hospice, has been distributed this week. The flyer will also be sent out by the hospice to their very large mailing list. It is highly likely that this event will sell out and we would like as many parents as possible to be able to attend on the evening. Returns can be sent into the office, where we will coordinate requests for tables. We do hope you can join us on October 6th for a terrific evening at Sixways.

House Cricket and Rounders
House cricket and rounders for Y5 and Y6 will now take place during the games afternoon from 2-00p.m. on Monday 20th June.

Swimming
Mrs Goodayle has asked for all children in Year 3 to 6 to have both their PE and swimming kit in school every day until the end of term.

Sports Photographs

Charity Cycle Ride
Michaela Holmes' father, Paul, will be cycling, with fellow team members, from John O'Groats to Lands End during this month raising funds for St Richard's Hospice. Any donations would be gratefully received and these can be given via the Just Giving website: www.justgiving.com/teams/halfcenturytour We wish Mr Holmes a safe journey as he cycles across the country.

Sports Results
In recent rounders matches v Winterfold, the U9 A won 12-11 and the U9 B won 15-7.5. In cricket matches v RGS The Grange the U8 A drew while the U9 B lost by 5 runs. U9 A lost by 11 runs and the U9 B lost by 39 runs.

Y5 Tour and Lunch at KSW

Thursday 9th June

Summer Ball
The Summer Ball is fast approaching and it looks like it will be another terrific event, with an extremely pleasing take up of tickets. There are spaces for just a few additional tables and applications for tickets should be made by Monday 13th June at the latest in order that we can confirm numbers with the caterers. Applications do not need to be in groups of ten as we will seat those attending at appropriate tables if that is required.  One request we would like to make is for assistance on the Friday before the Ball, 24th June. We need a few additional hands to clean glasses and label bottles of wine for the day. Any volunteers would be made welcome.

Charity Dinner
Parents may wish to make an early note of a special event we have planned for next term. On Thursday 6th October we will be hosting a Charity Dinner at Sixways to raise funds for St. Richard's Hospice. This is a black tie event with a prominent rugby speaker planned for the evening. Tickets are likely to cost around £40, with bookings being taken for tables of ten. It is bound to be a popular event. Full details will follow soon, once the speaker is confirmed. In the meantime, put the date in the diary.

PA Camp Out
Tickets for this year's P.A. Camp Out are selling well. This will take place on Saturday 11th June, with tents being pitched during the afternoon and a barbecue being on offer during the evening. There will be a drinks and refreshments tent and a chance to enjoy a gathering around the campfire with friends. Tickets are still available, with a form for this event in the school office. We look forward to seeing many of you at this very enjoyable occasion.

Open Day
We will be welcoming prospective parents to our Open Day on Saturday 11th June, from 9-30a.m. to 12-30p.m. We are grateful to parents in advance for their assistance on the day as we will need the children from the older year groups to assist as guides on the morning. If you know of parents who may wish to apply for places in the future, we would be pleased if you brought this opportunity to visit the school to their notice.

Old Hawfordians' Day
We will be delighted to welcome back former pupils of the school on Sunday 12th June, from 11-00a.m. If you know of any former pupils who would like to attend the event and the lunch on the day, please advise them to contact the school office to confirm their attendance.

New Pupils' Day
We will be welcoming new pupils to the school on Monday 13th June. This will be followed by a New Parents' Meeting in the Music Room at 7-00p.m.

Sports Photos
Sports photos for the Y5 and Y6 teams will be taken on Monday 13th June. Photos will then be made available on the website.

Family Ski Information Evening
Mrs Farmer will be hosting an information evening at 6pm in The Cobb for parents and children who are interested in joining the Hawford Ski trip next year to Austria.

House Cricket and Rounders
House cricket and rounders for Y5 and Y6 will take place during the games afternoon from 2-00p.m. on Monday 13th June.

Reception Assembly
Parents who have children in our Reception classes are invited to join us for assembly on Wednesday 15th June. The children will be leading the assembly on this occasion. Assemblies start at 8-45a.m.

Canal Walk
The whole school will be involved in walk to launch the Narrowboat Appeal on Thursday 16th June. The younger children (Kindergarten and Reception) will be walking within the school grounds while the older children will be walking along the newly restored canal – which will open officially on July 1st. Our landing stage will provide the perfect mooring for a narrowboat, which will be used by the children as a floating classroom. Full details of the walks, and times, will follow shortly. Parents are welcome to join us on this occasion.

Staff Meeting
There will be a staff meeting after school on Thursday 16th June. Activities run by teaching staff will not operate on this occasion. Prep will take place as normal.

Pre-Prep Reports
Parents who have children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be receiving their children's Summer reports shortly after Friday 17th June, as they will be posted out on that day.
