Year 6 Presentations
We enjoyed some excellent presentations during the recent Year 6 Presentation Competition. The children showed a great deal of confidence in their presentations and demonstrated flair in their use of Powerpoint in the process. The children are to be congratulated on their achievements. In the end joint winners of the competition were announced. Lucy Stratton, with a talk of seashells, and Jack Kenneally-Perrin, for his presentation on Red Foxes, were judged to be the best and they will be presented with prizes at the final assembly of term.

Recent Camps
It has been good to hear from the children and teachers such terrific stories from the recent camps that the children have been involved with. Our Year 4 children had a wonderful few days in Broad Haven last week, following on from the Year 3 and 5 Malvern Camps and the Year 2 visits to the Old Chapel. These camps, which will also involve Year 6 when they go off to Carsington after half term, are both a unique and a vital part of our curriculum offering. Our children are so lucky to have these opportunities for outdoor learning and to engage in problem solving, studying the landscape and land use as well enjoying a good walk and some much needed physical recreation. So many people are oblivious of the beautiful countryside and coast line that makes up our nation – our children enjoy not only a fabulous school location but the chance to get out and explore the wider areas around us. In doing so they are building experiences that will last them a lifetime. We are grateful to all who work so hard to make our camps such a success.

We are pleased to have had a number of new members come forward to join the Committee at the AGM after half term – we are always interested in new members who would like to be involved so if you do feel that you can offer a little help and would like to join a group that both works purposefully and also enjoys our events, we would be pleased to hear from you. Fiona Bulpitt, Chair of the P.A. would be happy to discuss this and talk to you about how the Committee works.

Hawford May Fete
The Fete last week was a most enjoyable occasion. It was lovely to see the children dancing and to see so many parents at the event. This is a uniquely Hawford event, with the children organising and running the stalls and thoroughly enjoying themselves at the same time. There was a great variety of stalls, with plenty of animated children confidently advertising their wares. Well done to all of the children for their fabulous work on the day, both with the stalls and with the setting out and putting away. We were also very grateful to all of the parents and PA Committee members who worked so tirelessly to ensure the day was a success, and also grateful for the work undertaken by the staff. What was apparent on the day was just how much the partnership between the staff, parents and children is a very special feature of Hawford life. Long after the event finished adults and children were busy restoring the field back to its customary position – we value highly this partnership, which is at the core of our school mission.
