David Bryer was Head of House 1961-62 and Company Sergeant Major of the CCF. Before joining Hostel David was in Choir House, St Alban's and Creighton House.
David was Director of Oxfam 1991-2001. In 2003 he was appointed Chair of Oxfam International.
On leaving King's, David did Middle Eastern Studies at Worcester College Oxford & graduated with a DPhil on the Druze. He worked with Oxfam in a variety of jobs starting as the representative in Lebanon the same month that the Civil War commenced. Until recently, David worked on conflict mediation at the Henry Dunant Centre in Geneva. He and his wife lived in Geneva until October 2003 when they returned to the UK. He was awarded a CMG in the New Years honours 1996, and is now a trustee of Save the Children and WWF and Chair of Home-Start International.
