"Way back in 1900, colours for the OV Club were introduced. The reason, according to Michael Craze in his history of King's, was that five Oxford OVs had written in The Vigornian of their 'mortification' and 'sense of shame' in not having colours in an undergraduate world wholly coloured. Dark blue and white (the school colours) and chocolate (for difference) were proposed and adopted. At this stage, the range was limited to ties (1s. 6d.), hat, ribbons and waist scarves.
