Oliver writes:
Since I ran the Paris Marathon on 6th April 2008 a further 64 soldiers have been killed on operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. This number will doubtless have risen by marathon day.Our servicemen and women continue to selflessly serve us, often at great personal cost.
The Army Benevolent Fund is a vital, relevant, and generous charity whose work includes giving essential support to current and former servicemen, as well as their families. As the Soldiers' Charity, the ABF provides vital financial help to the heartbroken families of those lost and the hundreds of soldiers who have suffered psychological and physical injuries whilst serving their country.

Peter Garland (Ch 63-68), both the Paris (5th April) and London Marathons,  for the Temi Community in Caucasian Georgia (an orphanage for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages); and a charity for the research into complex shoulder injuries and The King's School Development Trust.
He asks:  I will be doing my bit dragging my aged frame round Paris on 5th April 2009 and then London on 26th………..hopefully. Please give to whichever you think is the most deserving, or to all if you wish. If you can manage £1.00 a mile, or perhaps more that would be great. Anything at all is grist to the mill.

Peter completed the London Marathon in 4hrs 1 min and 2 seconds.
