OVFC into Division 2, via St George's Lane

Old Vigornians Football Club has enjoyed a great start to life with two promotions and a cup final appearance in just its first three years.

Manager Paul Judge, treasurer Tom Guest and club secretary Tim Race established the team in the summer of 2006, and, after one season finding its feet in Worcester League Division 4, the club has gone from strength to strength.

In its second year – the 2007/8 season – the OVs won Division 4 by 15 points, earning promotion to Division 3. The following season saw the team secure back-to-back promotions by clinching second place in Division 3.

In addition to a successful league campaign, the 2008/9 season also saw a remarkable cup run, with the OVs beating four teams on its way to a final appearance at St George's Lane – Worcester City Football Club's stadium.

The final, against MEC Chestnut from the division above, was a seven-goal thriller, with the OVs losing out 4-3 in extra time.

This season has seen a steady start to life in Worcester League Division 2, with the OVs sitting in mid-table after the first six games.

Paul Judge is team manager, with Dan Kendrick as captain. The OVs' regular players also include goalkeeper Alex Cross; defenders Tom Squire, Tim Race, Sunny Sehjipal, and Jim Reece; midfielders Tom Guest, Julius Baghdadi, Pete Gill, Osman Fiaz, John Squire, Danny Kearney and Joe O'Connor; and strikers Luke Turner, Arti Fiaz, Rich Wilkes and Ollie Mathews.
