Julian Flaux (Chappel, 1963-1972)
Julian Flaux joined the school in 1963 . He was an active member the History society and took part in several theatre productions, including an open air production of Antigone, during his time at the school although he was a reluctant sportsman.
He left King's to go to Worcester College Oxford to study Law and then joined the Bar in 1978. He became a specialist in commercial law including insurance and reinsurance (including Lloyd's business), shipping, professional negligence, international sale of goods, banking and international arbitration. He has argued a variety of commercial disputes including shipping cases usually involving technical engineering or naval architectural questions and insurance and reinsurance cases, usually involving construction issues of avoidance for non-disclosure and/or misrepresentation
Julian took Silk 1994. He was appointed Recorder 2000 and was authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge of the Queen's Bench Division, Commercial Court.
In April 2007 the Honorable Mr Justice Flaux was appointed to the High Court Bench and is also Presiding Judge on the Midlands Circuit.
