Lorna Shaddick (Choir, 1999-2004)

Lorna Shaddick (Ch 99-04) became the 10th Barnabas speaker on Thursday, 17th November 2011.

Lorna presents France 24's breakfast news programme, 'Live From Paris' on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

She talked about her role at France 24 and the skills needed; why you don't have to take English to be a journalist and and why not to go home at 4.00 p.m.

"It could well be editing the school newspaper that's useful in starting your journalistic career – it definitely was for me. But you never know - climbing a Himalayan mountain, conducting the Keys Choir or becoming a general knowledge quiz champion might just be the thing that gets you your first job. So never say no to an opportunity."
