Nicholas Cleobury (Choir House, 1958-1967)

Nicholas has established a considerable reputation in the concert hall, opera house and recording studio. He studied with Sir Adrian Boult and was an assistant to numerous leading conductors, notably Bernstein, Boulez and Haitink. He is currently Music Director of the Britten Sinfonia, a major new force in British musical life, whose CDs of works have been highly acclaimed, winning a Gramophone Award.
He came back to King's for a special Gala Keys Society concert in 2007 to conduct Walton's Façade which included a special line-up of OVs and staff who read the poetry of Edith Sitwell. The concert was part of the Words Alive week to mark the opening of the new library.
On his return on 30th April 2009, Nicholas was also interviewed by members of the School Archive as part of the Oral Archive project.
