Rev Peter Hammersley (Hon OV Staff 77-84)

We are sorry to announce the sad news that Peter Hammersley (Hon OV Staff 77-84) has passed away. He was 70.

A Celebration for his Life and Ministry  was held on Monday, 4th July at St Mary's Church, Hanbury.  Canon John Green spoke with affection for him and was obviously moved. In an address, Professor John Hull, Hon. Professor of Practical Theology at the University of Birmingham spoke about Peter's life. He mentioned the time at King's which had made him keen to continue in education, although much of his time later on was spent with prisoners dealing with what he called loss. His work on this area of coping with loss was part of his doctorate which he took in the late 90s, and he ended up with contacts around the world as a result. Peter became seriously ill after Easter this year, having been still actively involved in the church at Hanbury.
