Sport

Sporting opportunity abounds. Competitive sport is encouraged and there are inter-school fixtures from U'8 onwards. As the children develop so the fixture list extends:

Autumn: Hockey and Rugby;
Spring: Netball, Soccer and Rugby (7s);
Summer: Tennis, Rounders and Cricket augmented by fixtures for Cross-country in the Spring, Athletics in the Summer and Swimming all year round.

The facilities are wonderful and many of the children excel - for instance we have national orienteering champions and both girls and boys playing county cricket and pupils who have gone on to represent their country. An astro turf facility opened in Autumn 2010 and a second indoor sports complex is currently being planned. The girls often reach the last stages of the IAPS Netball competition and we are regularly represented at the swimming finals too. The boys have enjoyed success at Rugby 7s in local competitions. After-school fixtures are well supported by parents and, as with all involvement in school life, sport helps the children flourish socially. Family participation makes the taxi run a pleasure - not only the children find new friends!
