Boathouse Blog September 2011

The start of a new school year sees the result of a great deal of progress made on the ground floor of the boathouse over the summer break. Unlike the top level which will feature catering facilities, a decking which will open up on to the gardens, a gym and fitness centre and additional changing facilities, the bottom level will do just what its name would suggest: store boats!

Given the variety of uses the upper level will provide King's with it is little wonder that it will be some time yet before the top level will be as close to completion as the bottom level already is. With only a few more jobs to do on the ground floor, including finishing off the front entrance and adding the fixtures which will hold the boats, these are all finishing touches that can be done once the top level has caught up.

As the shape takes form on the first floor it is becoming increasingly visible how the boathouse will open up on to the school gardens via a decking and what a valuable space this will be for King's as well as external community functions.
