The CCF on an exercise at The King's School, Worcester

The CCF - Combined Cadet Force - is available to Year 9 and above, although Year 8 can join in the Summer Term.

The CCF meets on Fridays 4.10-5.30pm, as well as weekend activities and competitions.

The contingent is currently made up of two sections: an Army section of about 60 cadets and a slightly larger RAF section. Both sections parade in uniform, all of which, with the exception of boots, is provided on loan by the contingent. The contingent runs a Friday evening Exercise, an Overnight Exercise, a Range Day and a day's Adventure Training each term; in addition to this the RAF section goes flying two or three times a term during the school week. We also enter District and Brigade competitions each term.

Each year the contingent runs four camps in the school holidays:

  • Easter holidays - an Adventurous Training Camp and an RAF camp

  • Summer holidays - either a central camp, where we work with contingents from other schools, or occasionally a visit abroad such as a week spent with a unit in Germany. The RAF section also holds a camp in the Summer holiday; at both RAF camps there is always an opportunity to fly.
