Himalayan Club
The King's School Himalayan Club was formed in the early '90s with the first expedition to the Nepal Himalayas taking place in 1993. Since then there have been a further twelve student expeditions and six parent expeditions to the Everest region, the Annapurnas, Makalu, Langtang, Kangchenjunga, Ladakh in India, Tanzania and most recently Peru. During October 2007 a small group of students escorted a similar group of blind students from New College, Worcester on an expedition in Morocco.
Over 500 pupils, OVs, parents and staff have now participated in these exciting and spectacular adventures. In return for the experiences the club has funded educational and medical projects in all of the countries visited, providing more than £200,000 during its existence.
