Ushers and Second Masters
Ushers of the King's School Worcester
In the Letters Patent setting up the dean and chapter and the King's School, there was provision for two teachers, the Master and the Usher. Until the New Scheme of 1884 the Usher was appointed by the dean and chapter. Some subsequently were appointed as Master. All were clergymen and many had an M.A. A few held a living while still the Usher, but most left before taking up a parish.
