The King's Certificate

Launched in Sept 2009, The King's Certificate for Skills and all-round Achievement provides a framework for all Lower Sixth pupils to flourish during this important year. Through discussions with pastoral staff, students will set themselves five targets to achieve throughout the year. These targets will provide challenge, interest and motivation and, importantly, will be specific to the individual student. Students and their pastoral teachers will review progress to these targets and this will be done through a portfolio. The Certificate will also offer an opportunity for self-reflection. The Certificate is being offered in partnership with the University of Worcester and the Chamber of Commerce. To achieve the Certificate, students need to meet their five targets during the course of the year. Students who do this should be well placed, in terms of skills and experiences, to approach the UCAS process and life beyond King's.
The targets cover five, important areas:
- Academic achievement
- Development of a new skill or interest
- Service to the wider community
- Demonstrating presentation skills
- Meeting a new challenge
