Athletics
During the Summer Term, pupils have the opportunity to participate in athletics during their games afternoons. In addition, we regularly run two training evenings per week. On Mondays we use the City track at Nunnery Wood and on Wednesdays there is a session at King's own games fields.
In terms of competitive meetings, each age group has the opportunity to compete at the District Championships. In preparation for these events the U15, U17 and U19 athletes compete at a large meeting in Bromsgrove early in the season and all age groups have matches against RGSAO (which sometimes include other schools).
Those finishing in the top two places in their event at the District Championships move on to the County level (and sometimes further). We have had athletes compete at the English Schools Championships in the past.
We also run three Sports Days for everyone in the school. Pupils from two year groups at a time compete for either their Form Group or House teams, with the vast majority of pupils competing in at least one event.
