Swimming
King's is the only school in Worcester to have its own indoor pool. It is conveniently under the same roof as the Sports Hall.
We deliberately do not offer swimming as a major competitve sport on the grounds that those who aspire to be top rank swimmers need far more time in the pool than we could arrange when there are so many other claims on its use. Swimming galas take place in Years 7 and 8 and include highly competitive inter-Form competitions in which nearly all pupils in the year groups take part.
The most important regular use of the pool, however, is as part of our PE programme for all years. We do our best to help all our pupils to become competent and confident swimmers so that they will have this sport as a healthy recreation throughout their lives.
Other regular pool activities include water polo and instruction in life-saving techniques. King's has a Sub Aqua Club and a Kayaking Club, both of which make good use of the pool throughout the year.
