English
Being able to communicate better with others and present ideas more clearly is vitally important, not just in studies but in the wider world. That can be learned through the study of English.
Outside lessons there are opportunities to see plays at nearby theatres in Worcester, Birmingham, Stratford and Oxford. We also have study trips to help pupils understand the works of particular authors.
The GCSE English covers a wide range of books, plays and poems to give a good understanding of English literature and provide plenty of opportunities to use language clearly and confidently.
At A-level students can study either English Literature or English Language and Literature. The first option will be of particular interest to those who enjoy reading and discussing books and learning about people and ideas. The English Language and Literature course is more focused on language: how we learn it, use it and change it. Both courses provide the chance for creative writing. Both courses require intellectual and academic rigour and students will be expected to undertake independently their own reading and research.
