3A and 4J celebrate European Day of Languages

This week, the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department is celebrating the European Day of Languages with various activities across our family of schools.

To mark the occasion, Fifth Form (FF) pupils from ‘big’ King’s ran an online, virtual session for children in 3A and 4J. The King’s Worcester pupils were responsible for planning and delivering two engaging classes – one in Spanish (3A) and one in German (4J) – complete with lots of games so our children could have fun whilst they learnt.

3A enjoyed a competitive game of Bingo (well done to Lily E who won!) as well as taking part in a Spanish number song, which required the children to learn to count to 10. 4J played a game to learn five colours in German – a big well done to Sienna who was the winner.

It was two great classes, celebrating European Day of Languages and the perfect supplement to our French curriculum! It was also a wonderful opportunity to welcome back our former King St Alban’s pupils to inspire the younger children. They shared their passion for language learning and encouraged each of our children to speak with confidence, and most importantly, have a go, even when they were unsure.

Mrs Kilbey said: “I am delighted that the Fifth Form linguists are once again able to inspire language learning at KSA. This is a very exciting collaboration; the teenagers are wonderful role models for our children and we really enjoy their enthusiasm for languages.”
