Varied Informal Concert Celebrates Musical Talent

Last week’s Informal Concert was a vibrant and thoroughly enjoyable event, showcasing a wide range of musical talent across the year groups.

The programme was impressively varied, featuring everything from woodwind, brass and string performances to piano solos and vocal pieces, reflecting both the breadth of our peripatetic music provision and the pupils’ enthusiasm for music.

The concert opened energetically with the Brass Group’s superb performance of the Rocky theme tune Gonna Fly Now, and the Rolling Stones hit Ruby Tuesday, setting a confident tone for the afternoon. It was easy to forget this talented group were of primary age with their fantastically tight rhythms and tuneful ensemble playing.

This was followed by a delightful selection of solo performances from younger pupils, including charming piano pieces such as Twinkle, Twinkle and Pease Pudding Hot, performed with care and growing confidence. String players also impressed, with harp, violin and cello performances demonstrating good control and musicality.

As the concert progressed, the increasing maturity of the older pupils became evident. Brass players showed strong tone and secure technique, with duets such as Cha Cha and Blow-Up Blues adding a sense of fun and collaboration. Vocal performances were a particular highlight, with pupils delivering well-known songs such as Food, Glorious Food and A Million Dreams with expression and confidence.

The final section of the concert featured some outstanding performances from the oldest pupils, including polished instrumental solos and assured singing. Pieces like Reviewing the Situation and I Dreamed A Dream were performed with notable stage presence and musical understanding, providing a fitting conclusion to the evening.

Throughout the concert, pupils demonstrated not only their developing technical skills but also their ability to perform with confidence and enjoyment. The supportive atmosphere among performers and the evident pride of the audience made the event especially memorable.

Overall, it was a wonderful celebration of musical achievement and a testament to the hard work of both pupils and our peripatetic team.

Congratulations to all the performers and we look forward to the next informal concert!
