King’s shortlisted for two Education Choices Awards

King’s is celebrating after being shortlisted for two Education Choices Awards 2026 in recognition of its commitment to both pupil voice and sustainability.

The school has been nominated in the categories of Developing Student Voice and Supporting Sustainability, highlighting two areas in which pupils are making a meaningful impact across the King’s community.

The nomination for Developing Student Voice reflects King’s strong and growing commitment to ensuring pupils feel heard and empowered. Governors now host termly pupil voice focus groups, while the School Council has been reformed so that it can contribute more strategically to the development of the school community.

Regular whole-school surveys, carried out from Lower Fourth to Upper Sixth, also play an important role in shaping school life. Covering everything from dining hall menus and co-curricular opportunities to course content, the surveys provide valuable insight into pupils’ experiences and help drive positive change across the school.

The strong culture of listening and responding has helped to create a happy, safe and respectful environment, where pupils feel increasingly supported and empowered in their day-to-day lives.

The Supporting Sustainability nomination follows King’s recent achievement of the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation, as well as the continued success of the pupil-led Eco-Committee.

Since its first meeting in September 2024, the committee has focused on three key areas – waste, biodiversity and global citizenship – and has introduced a range of initiatives around the school. These have included new recycling schemes, planting trees and plants, and installing bird boxes in the school gardens.

The committee has also worked with organisations in the local community to support wider sustainability projects, including Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, Worcester Cathedral’s Eco-Committee and local MPs.

These nominations are a fitting recognition of the enthusiasm, commitment and hard work shown by pupils and staff alike.

Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this well-deserved success.
