Whilst the Ukraine Appeal may not be hitting the headlines with the intensity we have witnessed over the last few months, the pupils at King’s St Alban’s remain keen to support this most worthy cause.
Returning after the half-term break, one Year 3 pupil, Will B was keen to do something which would enable him and his school colleagues to raise funds for Ukraine. Having taken part in many fundraising activities in the Lent Term as part of the King’s Foundation Ukraine Day, Will wanted to continue the fundraising effort. He decided that a cake sale would be the way forward.
Taking place at morning break today (Monday), a hugely excited Year 3 cohort set about setting up the cake stall, realising just how many cakes they had made between them. There were cakes of all shapes and sizes, colours and flavours! We are sure that many of them must have spent the whole weekend baking – this was a fantastic effort and there was no doubt that there would be plenty of willing customers!
As the bell went for break-time, children poured out of their lessons on to the playground, eager to sample the sweet treats on offer. Year 3 pupils were kept on their toes serving their customers, taking money and ensuring everyone had the correct change! After break, the children returned to their classroom, with Will in particular being keen to see how much money they have raised – it was a heavy tin, so fingers crossed – we will keep you posted!
We had so many cakes that they will be on sale again tomorrow break-time, so if anyone forgot their money today, bring it in tomorrow and you will be able to grab a cake then.
