It’s been another fun filled week in the Nursery at King’s St Alban’s with all children full of energy and enthusiasm each and every day.
The children have truly embraced our theme for the first half of the Autumn Term which is Teddy Bears. The children’s imagination was truly captured as we read our story of the week, ‘Whatever Next!’, one of Jill Murphy’s award-winning children’s books. The children loved using prop to retell the story.
There was then a huge level of excitement as the Nursery children joined together with the Reception class for a music lesson, which kicked off with the animal bop! There were smiles and laughter all round. Children had the opportunity to use the percussion instruments before learning a new song, ‘Teddy bear, Teddy bear.’ The whole class sang beautifully and very loudly – I am sure they could be heard over at “Big King’s”.
Creativity was flowing in the Nursery as children printed paws with brown paint and the Cygnets group making their own teddy bear hats.
During the course of the week, the Swans group have also got stuck into a French lesson – the children were amazing, especially given that many of them have not done French before. In our Forest School session, the children put on their all-in-one weather suits and enjoyed digging and getting messy just like the bear in the story. Despite being interrupted by a fire drill, all of the children were impeccably behaved and took it all in their stride for which we are extremely proud of them!
Finally, an energetic cohort relished the opportunity to fly around in a rocket (pretending of course) just like baby bear. The children most definitely deserved their snack time, which they insisted on having as a picnic just like baby bear did on the moon.
It has been a bear-y busy, fun filled week!
