A Magical Afternoon of Music: Children Shine in Informal Concert
What a magical afternoon of music we had at our informal concert!
Pupils from all ages and skill levels performed with enthusiasm and talent that truly impressed the audience. Here’s a look back at some of the standout moments from the performances.
We kicked off with a rhythmic and funky performance by Lily SH on the drums, who got everyone tapping their feet with her piece Gunning for Funk. Nicholas HT Catchy Toon on the quint-bassoon followed, showing us just how delightful this unique instrument can sound.
James F, in Reception, charmed the crowd with his first ever performance of Twinkle Twinkle on the piano, while William C Sparkling Splashes and Smooth Water painted a beautiful, peaceful picture with his piano skills, too.
Olivia P brought a colourful vocal performance of Ride on a Rainbow to life, with Minnow MP evoking a truly spooky vibe with her pitch-perfect singing in Haunted House.
Of the many highlights, a stunning piano piece, Elegy for the Arctic, played by Thomas C brought a moment of quiet reflection to the concert. The audience also enjoyed a lively rendition of What Shall We Do with the Drunken Sailor? performed by Beatrix W on the piano, enticing the audience to hum along!
Sylvie P bravely delivered a her very first trumpet solo with Off to Town, and Louis Y engaged us with his atmospheric piano playing in Spooky Wood Hollow.
Ariana P delighted the audience not once but twice—first with her vocal performance of Seven Years, and then later with her serene harp playing in Midnight Stars. In contrast, Rupert C raised the energy high, impressing with his own funky drumkit composition, Rock. Austin R’s performance of Tycoon on the bassoon demonstrated his skill with such a complex instrument. Harry G rousing trumpet solo of Men of Harlech showed off his clear tone, and Finn MP gave a vibrant performance of Jupiter on the saxophone.
Year 6’s rounded off the showcase of talent, with Iza MP beautifully moving vocals in Poor Wayfaring Stranger, Jess K technically impressive Allegretto on the flute, and Elizabeth N’s enchanting and sensitive piano performance of Once Upon a Frozen Winter. Olivia G gave a flawless violin performance of the jazzy Ragtime Annie, showcasing her advanced skills and musicality. The afternoon ended on a high note with Mary W’s exciting and energetic performance of Vamoose on the cello, a fantastic way to wrap up such a diverse and exciting concert.
Overall, this concert was a beautiful celebration of all the hard work and dedication these children have put into their music. Bravo to everyone who performed—you made us all incredibly proud! We look forward to more wonderful performances in the future.
The next informal concert is on 13th March – keep up the great practice!
