A Roaring Week in Reception

Reception have been working hard this week on their two week mini topic where they have been starting to find out all about dinosaurs. They have been learning about how some dinosaurs are carnivores, how some are herbivores and the different types of food each would have eaten. At the end of the week the children even created some delicious menus for the dinosaurs! They thought really carefully about the type of food a carnivore dinosaur would like to eat and the food a herbivore dinosaur would like to eat. Pupils have had lots of fun labelling parts of a dinosaur and creating their own mini dinosaur worlds!

On Thursday, Reception looked at how we can tell what the dinosaurs ate by the types of teeth they had. The children had a look at what their teeth are like and how that shows what type of food we eat. Mrs Monkhouse’s son Rupert kindly sent a video to Reception to tell them the importance of looking after their teeth and how to brush them properly.

We have been so impressed with the children’s fantastic writing and maths work this term. They have been working super hard to learn some new digraphs and this week they have been focusing on finding out about how to double numbers. It has been a very busy week and we are so proud of all of the children for their continued huge efforts and enthusiasm towards their learning during these very strange times.
