King's St Alban's

1 July

A spectacular, colourful display of pupils’ skill.

There was a buzz of anticipation in the John Moore Theatre on Tuesday evening as pupils and parents gathered for our Prep School Summer Show. This is a very special event in the King’s St Alban’s calendar, bringing together music and dance in a spectacular and colourful display of our pupils’ skill.

Orchestra, Wind Band, Chamber Choir, String Group and Guitar Group have all been working hard throughout the summer term to prepare their pieces for the show. They played beautifully, treating the audience to a wide variety of music, ranging from the medieval inspired Knights and Ladies (Orchestra) to Mission Impossible (Guitar Group). Mrs Kilbey’s whistle really set the scene for Match of the Day (Wind Band). She could yet have a new career on the football pitch!

The Prep School Dance Club wowed the audience with their lively performance of Bam Bam and brought a few tears to some of us with their poignant Forever Young. Many of the girls also performed solos, duets and group dances that they had choreographed themselves. These pieces were full of variety and beautifully performed, with real skill and commitment. Ranging from the toe-tapping I’m a believer to the haunting Seven Years, our pupils’ skill and determination ensured that there really was something for everyone.

The show finished with a grand finale – Shine. Led by the Dance Club, this allowed all our performers to take to the stage once last time, bringing the show to an end in style. The performance from start to finish was a credit to the pupils of King’s St Alban’s, who never fail to impress with not only their skills but their positivity and determination to succeed. We are delighted that this academic year we have been able to share several performances with live audiences and look forward to welcoming parents, grandparents, friends and family back to our concerts once again next academic year.
