U10/U11 Winterfold Matty Thacker Tournament

A lovely day out was enjoyed by the U10/U11 boys over at Winterfold on Wednesday afternoon, supporting the Matty Thacker tournament. All of the boys battled hard and tried to play football the right way. For most this was their first football game in quite a while! It was great to see the boys improving through every game throughout the afternoon. After the group stages, KSA were put into the semi-final of the plate against The Elms. This game finished 0-0 and went to penalties, where the boys kept their nerve and won to secure their place in the final against Hereford Cathedral. Eddie U scored to put KSA 1-0 up but a brilliant strike from the Hereford player made it 1-1 close to the final whistle. With the score all level, the game went to penalties to determine the winner of the plate. Patrick, Eddie and Lex all scored their penalties to win. Well done to everyone involved.

U10 Netball v Winterfold School

After missing most of the netball season last year due to lockdown, the U10 netball teams were very excited to play their first fixture of the season against Winterfold. The pupils are now playing 5-a-side using the England Netball ‘Bee Netball’ rules. This enables all players to have a turn playing in each position.

The A team had a closely fought and exciting match. Each goal Winterfold scored was matched by a KSA goal. Going into the final quarter, the score was 2-2. With less than a minute to go the score was 3-3, but King’s managed to score their final shot at goal. The girls were delighted to win their first match 4-3.

The B team had a more challenging match. Despite most of the team working very hard to find space, King’s struggled to move the ball down the court. Winterfold made several interceptions, which they managed to convert into goals. The final score was 6-0.

The girls have made so much progress with their netball in the last couple of weeks and we can’t wait to see them develop their skills and match play during the rest of this term.

U9 Netball v Abberley

The U9s had a wonderful afternoon of netball on Tuesday. It was their first experience of playing competitive netball and they played using the new ‘Bee Netball Fliers’ format, which is 4-a-side. They played a round robin of games against Abberley and their own teams, where they won some and lost some. All in all a wonderful experience. Well done girls!

U8/U9 v RGS Springfield

What a brilliant start to the football term for the U8 and U9 boys who were involved in the fixture on Tuesday. It makes all of the work we have done in football club in the Autumn term worth it. We were super impressed with the way the team kept their shape and worked as a team. Their passing was brilliant and the first thing all of the boys did when receiving the ball was to take a touch and look up for a teammate in space. We scored a number of well worked team goals.

U8 Netball v Abberley
What a fantastic start to the netball term! We rotated our 10 Year 3 girls to play a full afternoon of ‘Buzzers’ netball. The girls proved to be highly impressive with their catching skills and their use of space. They show great promise for the rest of the term.
