The entire King’s Family has been moved by the tragedy that has unfolded in Ukraine, leading to the greatest humanitarian crisis Europe has seen since World War Two.

Back in February 2022, King’s Worcester pupils recorded a single in aid of Ukraine and raised money through charity days. People have given generously.

However, the School felt we needed to do more. Therefore, we have offered five full Bursaries to Ukrainian children, for the next three years.

The School has set up a designated fund, The King’s Ukrainian Fund, with a target of raising £6,000 on average per child per year to provide transport to school, laptops for school, school trips, meals, and other extras, in addition to helping towards school fees, for our Ukrainian pupils and their families. This sum is very much an average as some host families will cover some of these costs while, for other families, costs will be higher. Schoolblazer and Tacklebag have kindly made a donation per-pupil towards the cost of school uniforms and sports kit.

Several parents have expressed a desire to donate. If every such parent gave something, we could not only sponsor every child, but also perhaps create a fund big enough to support the families more extensively – through outings, English language tuition, counselling provision, and cultural immersion programmes, and perhaps even setting up a refugee community space.

What does £6,000 per annum equate to if it is gift-aided? For those who pay higher rate tax, making a donation of £4,800, the net cost to the donor is £3,600, equating to £300 per month. A donation of £4,800 will be worth £6,000 to The King’s Ukrainian Fund.

Whatever level of support you are able to offer, please click the JustGiving link below to make your donation, where you can also apply Gift Aid. There are some suggested values via JustGiving, but you can of course amend the amount.

There is no minimum gift. Every donation makes a real difference.

Thank you for any support you are able to give.
