Athletics: Spectacular Success at School Games

On the last Friday of last half term, the Years 7 and 8 girls’ Sports Hall Athletics Teams travelled to Bromsgrove to take place in the School Games Spring Finals. There were six teams competing, all of whom had won their district round earlier in the term and thereby qualified for the finals.  

The Games involve four individual track and five field events, each involving two competitors, as well as two relay events. Both teams made a great start in the obstacle relays, with the Year 7s winning the race and the Year 8s coming second. There were also some impressive performances in the field events, with lots of points scored in the Speed Bounce, the Vertical Jump, the Standing Long Jump, the Standing Triple Jump, and the Shot. The girls also continued to dominate on the track, winning many of their races.  

When the results were announced, the Year 7s had won the gold medal and the Year 8s had won the silver, which is a fantastic achievement for both teams! Very well done to everyone who took part.
