King's St Alban's
24 November
Autumn Concert creates real buzz of excitement.
There was a real buzz of excitement and anticipation in College Hall on Tuesday, as parents, grandparents, teachers, and pupils gathered for the King’s St Alban’s Prep School Autumn Concert. Fittingly, it was also St Cecilia’s Day, and what better way to celebrate the patron saint of music and musicians than with a fabulous concert?
The Prep School children have been working very hard all term to learn music for this event, and they really did themselves proud. The variety of music on offer was impressive, and there was something for everyone. From Orchestra’s opening number, Autumn from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, to the rousing final item, Senior Choir’s superb performance of Take Me Home, Country Roads, the audience were treated to music in a wide range of styles and genres.
Many of the children were performing in College Hall for the very first time and this will have been an unforgettable experience for them. Lots of the children have only taken up instruments recently, and it was lovely to see their excitement at their very first ensemble performance. Indeed, half of String Group only started lessons in September!
The poised and accomplished performances given by our three Year 6 soloists were very impressive. Rory, (organ), Emily (voice) and Charlie (trumpet) all performed beautifully and, although we’re sure they were nervous, they looked like seasoned professionals!
A Pre-Prep pupil who had come along to support his sister and watch the Autumn Concert performance said, “It was amazing; I am really looking forward to being in the concert next year!”, whilst one of the performers commented, “It’s been such fun practising all of our songs, but my favourite is most definitely, Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver.”
What a super evening this was! Well done everyone!
