U10/11 B Cricket v Winterfold House
The sun continued to shine for the Under 10/11 B Team’s first cricket match of this half term, following the half-term break. After winning the toss, Captain Henry opted to bowl first and put the team from Winterfold into bat. Bowling in pairs, the children all performed really well, with Monty and Henry only conceding three runs, Brody and Ivy conceding 15 runs, Freddy and Luca conceding four runs, Harry and Archie conceding five runs and Ben and Will also only conceding three runs. This meant that Winterfold were limited to a total score of 230 runs for four wickets, with Archie, Ben, Henry and Monty all taking a wicket each.
After a quick team talk about the importance of decisive communication with their batting partner, the St Alban’s team put on a confident batting display to post a score of 251 runs for three wickets.
Will and Ben scored a total of 14 runs but conceded two wickets; Archie and Harry also scored 14 runs between them, for no wickets; Luca and Freddy scored 24 runs for one wicket; Ivy and Brody scored 10 runs for no wickets, whilst Henry and Monty scored an impressive 19 runs for no wickets. Monty and Ben also managed to hit the ball past the boundary for several Fours, much to the delight of the spectators looking on! Overall, this was a confident performance from a team who worked and played well together. Well done to all of the children who took part, and thank you to the parents, grandparents and other spectators who came along to watch the children play: your support was very much appreciated!
