Year 2 impress with French Language Skills

Assemblies are a highlight of the week, with today being no exception as the Pre-Prep were treated to a special French assembly led by the pupils in Year 2. The whole of the Pre-Prep, together with Year 2 parents, were very excited to watch the first French assembly for over two years! The children had never had a chance to perform an assembly, let alone a French assembly, before, as both their Reception and Year 1 assemblies had been unable to take place.

The audience were treated to songs about breakfast and pizza and a retelling of the famous story Dear Zoo. The whole assembly was in French and we think it’s safe to say that the children’s confidence to speak another language is greater than some of the grown ups! The children’s beaming smiles of pride throughout the assembly spoke volumes about how much they relished the opportunity to demonstrate their linguistic skills! Each and every pupil spoke with real confidence. We were very proud of them all and Mrs Kilbey, who will be teaching them French next year when they transition into the Prep School, was extremely impressed with what she saw. Well done, Year 2!

French lessons at King’s St Alban’s Pre-Prep are part of our extensive curriculum. Lessons within the Pre-Prep school are taught by subject-specialist teachers and are geared specifically to this age group. Lessons are fun and interactive, ensuring that all pupils learn and develop their linguistic skills, which can then be built upon throughout their prep school careers and beyond.
