King's St Alban's

2 December

Bringing festive cheer to Worcester City Centre.

The King’s St Alban’s Year 4 pupils were in full festive cheer on Thursday afternoon as they enjoyed entertaining the crowds at Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fayre. Wearing Christmas hats, pupils and teachers alike took to the main stage situated in Cathedral Square and wowed the stallholders and visitors with their super singing.

Over the last few weeks, they have been working hard in their music lessons with Mrs Haggarty and Mrs Gunter to learn a wide variety of carols and Christmas songs, ranging from traditional favourites such as Away in a Manger and Zither Carol to the toe-tapping Jingle Bell Rock and the very appropriate Rock Around the Shops. They also introduced their audience to some more unusual items, such as Please Don’t Send Me to Bed and Christmas at School.

This was a really lovely occasion, and it was a real treat to be back at the Christmas Fayre again. One pupil was heard saying, “That was brilliant; it was the best fun ever!”  Give them a stage, a few microphones and a decent sound system and they’re all pop stars! The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and sang their hearts out, spreading more than a little festive cheer in Worcester City Centre. It is safe to say that we are all definitely in the mood for Christmas now!
