Our final Informal Concert of the year was held in The Chapel on Tuesday afternoon. This was a bumper edition, with 29 performers taking to the stage to play pieces that they have been working on with their instrumental teachers this term.
All year groups in the Prep School were well represented, with a wide variety of instruments and pieces featured in the programme. From classics such as Beethoven’s Ode to Joy (Sienna: piano) to old favourites such as Feed the Birds (Evie: voice), via the toe-tapping Can-Can (Yiming: piano) and the Eurovision favourite Space Man (Alice: voice), there was something for everyone.
It was a pleasure to welcome some first-time performers to the Informal Concert platform. Eddie (violin), Alanna (voice), Evie B (voice), Evie R (voice) and Elin (violin) all made their first appearance, playing and singing with aplomb.
For our Year 6 pupils, this was their last performance as pupils at King’s St Alban’s. Many of the children have been playing in these events since they were in Pre-Prep, so this really did feel like the end of an era for them (not to mention their parents!). Lily (piano), Ivy (flute), Scarlett (piano), Alanna (voice), Evie (voice), Yiming (piano), Persephone (voice), Jess (recorder), Olivia (flute), Arabella (piano) and Elin (violin) are all looking forward to moving on to the next exciting stage of their musical education at ‘Big King’s’. They have all contributed so much to the musical life at King’s St Alban’s. We will miss them but wish them well for their future music making.
Well done to all our performers for giving us yet another splendid afternoon’s entertainment. Music at King’s St Alban’s is going from strength to strength and this was a fitting climax to a fabulous and fun-filled year of concerts.
