Careers: Doing Things Differently

Schools and companies alike have been adjusting the way they do things. In-person work experience is obviously not possible this summer but, recognising the importance for young people of experiencing the world of work, some companies have been thinking outside the box.

This week, a number of students seized the opportunity to participate in a virtual work experience week, organised by Young Professionals, a company set up by a young entrepreneur to help link students with global employers.

The week has been intensive but pupil James L reports:‘It has been great so far! The Virtual Work Experience programme has been a great week full of webinars and workshops from many global companies, such as IBM, PwC, Ernst Young, RAF, Rolls Royce and Capgemini. There have been many useful tips, business challenges and employability skills which will be helpful for the future.’
