Carol Service Crowns the End of Term

On Thursday evening, our Prep pupils and their families and friends packed the majestic Worcester Cathedral for our annual Carol Service. It is always an impressive sight to see the Nave of the Cathedral filled with Prep School pupils, and all of the children were full of excitement and anticipation as they filed into the Cathedral.

During the course of the service, the timeless Christmas story was told through readings, carols and prayers, against a backdrop of the magnificent Worcester Cathedral. Confident, clear reading by children from Year Three to Six meant that the audience heard every word. All the children read with confidence beyond their years, completely undaunted by their surroundings.

The music was beautiful; the children sang three challenging pieces with poise and aplomb: Born in a Manger (Stannard), The Three Kings (Coombes) and Sing Ye Hosanna (Reid). The choristers, resplendent in their red and white cassocks, added to the special atmosphere, delivering an angelic performance of  Christmas Lullaby. Choristers Sam T and Humph D both sang solos during the service and did so with great confidence and prowess. There were plenty of proud teachers and parents.

This was Mr Chapman’s eighth and final King’s St Alban’s Carol service; he said afterwards, “I am an extremely proud Head, this year’s service was a glorious end to my headship at King’s St Alban’s”.
