On Tuesday evening we were delighted to be able to invite the King’s Hawford community to come together to enjoy carols in the Cathedral. This was an extremely special occasion, as it was the first time that our service had been held in the spiritual home of the King’s Foundation, Worcester Cathedral. In past years our Carol Services have been held at St Andrew’s Church in Ombersley but we were delighted to have the opportunity to stage this year’s event at the Cathedral.
Guests were welcomed to the Cathedral by Canon Stephen Edwards. The service began with a beautiful harp recital from Henry, a voluntary chorister and one of our Year 6 musicians. Next, we were treated to a beautiful solo from Edward. A traditional selection of readings and carols followed.
Highpoints of the service were Junior Choir’s Carol of the Children, Year 5 and 6’s beautiful rendition of Child in a Manger Born, and the Senior Choir singing Candlelight in glorious harmony. Headmaster of The King’s School, Worcester Foundation, Mr Doodes, brought the proceedings to a close with a powerful rendition of John 1:1 The Word of God.
We hope this will be the first of many wonderful King’s Hawford services in the Cathedral.
