Carousel Week: from pirates to producers

This week Year Six pupils have been channelling their inner pirates and producers. They have been taking part in a Geography and ICT carousel of activities and these enjoyable sessions have been designed to enable our pupils to gain important skills whilst having fun with their friends. As we prepare to bid farewell to our Year Six pupils, we want to ensure that they are not only well-equipped for their next step but also leave KSA with lots of happy memories.

Pirates: Geography Carousel

Year Six have had a great deal of fun attending ‘Pirate School’, taking part in a range of pirate-themed activities throughout the week. They have been busy developing their mapping skills, as during their geography sessions they have learned to use map symbols and keys, locate places using six-figure grid references, follow compass directions and read compass bearings. The sessions have also taught the children to understand scale, locate and name oceans and seas of the world, and identify and use lines of longitude and latitude. Using all of their new found skills, pupils were challenged to create and use their own maps to hide and locate stolen treasure in the previously unchartered territory of the “Isle of KSA”.

We are very pleased to announce that they all passed their pirate training with flying colours. Well done Year Six!

Producers: ICT Carousel

This week, our Year Six pupils embarked on an exciting journey into the realms of video editing. They took a trip down memory lane, revisiting photos and videos from their time at KSA.

Regardless of whether they’ve been with us for years or just a couple of terms, the pupils seized upon the project with enthusiasm and creativity. They carefully selected music that resonated with their memories, and, with the help of key frames, they skilfully created captivating effects and transitions that complemented the rhythm of the music.

We were delighted by the pupils’ hard work and their willingness to support one another throughout the process. They not only acquired new video-editing skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for storytelling through multimedia.

What a brilliant week this has been for our Year Six pupils, enabling them to channel their inner pirates and producers!
