Celebrating Excellence at King’s Hawford: A Memorable Assembly

King’s Hawford welcomed new pupils with open arms this morning as we kicked off Move Up Day, a special occasion for both new and current pupils. The warm greetings from Mr Butt and the entire King’s Hawford community set a positive tone for the exciting day ahead.

A Round of Applause for Scheherazade

The assembly began with heartfelt congratulations from Mr Butt to the talented cast of Scheherazade, the Years Five and Six production that dazzled audiences earlier this week. Mr Butt expressed immense pride in the pupils, calling their performance magnificent.

Showcasing Musical Talent

Our celebration continued with musical performances that captivated everyone:

  • Olivia G delivered a beautiful rendition of Asheldean Farewell on the violin, showcasing her Grade 3 skills.
  • Oscar impressed with his trumpet performance of Men of Harlech, a Grade 2 piece.
  • Sam brought joy with his trombone rendition of Bare Necessities, also a Grade 2 piece.

Outstanding Individual Achievements

The spotlight then shifted to some remarkable individual achievements:

  • Teddy (Year 6) triumphed in the Young Writers Competition at the Worcester Literary Festival, securing First Place.
  • Darcy B (Year 6) was celebrated for earning a place in the prestigious Worcester Cathedral Choir, starting in September.

U11 Cricket Team Triumphs

Mr Butt lauded the U11 Cricket team for their fantastic performance at the IAPS Regional Championships held at Bristol Grammar School. Their victory, followed by a win against Blue Coat School, marks them as one of the best teams in the country. Mr Stigant added a humorous touch, recounting a team disagreement over breadsticks, which ended with a celebratory upgrade to Waitrose breadsticks for the team.

Biathlon Medal Presentation

Arthur G (Year 4) received his Biathlon Medal, having missed the initial presentation, and was wished luck by Mr Butt for this afternoon’s biathlon involving Years Five and Six pupils.
